With the large number of aspirants now jostling to pick the governorship ticket of the Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former governor of the state, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, said he foresaw a stalemate in the contest that has already attracted over 40 aspirants .
In a briefing in Awka yesterday, Mbadinuju reading from a prepared text titled: "The Governorship Race in Anambra State, ” said it was important to say the beginning of political wisdom for Anambra politicians would be the knowledge that the country's democracy is built upon party system. He described as a sad commentary the fact that virtually all the parties contesting the governorship election in his native state are now in disarray , mainly because none wants to follow the rules and the much touted issue of "internal democracy."
He reminded politicians that a house divided against itself cannot stand, saying electoral victory is like charity which must necessarily begin at home which, in the instant case, is the party
He said many of the aspirants jostling to be governor of the state should realise that apart from the office of governor of a state, other important offices or posts which they can snap, exist , instead of dissipating enormous energy and resources and generate bad blood because they all want to be governor.
